2. How do I transfer my domain name to Aimtech?
There are two steps to transferring your name:
Step One - DNS Transfer
Modifying your DNS will take only 5mins and not more than 12hrs for propagation. Click Here for full instructions on how to initiate your domain name DNS Transfer. This will include pointing your existing domain to your Aimtech web site. A DNS Transfer keeps the billing and management of your domain name with your current registrar and "points" the name to your Aimtech web site.
Step Two (Optional) - Registrar Transfer
Once you've signed up and completed the DNS Transfer, you can easily perform a Registrar Transfer through the Aimtech Control Panel. Your billing and domain management will move to Aimtech.
3. Is there any fee for transferring to Aimtech?
No, the transfer process is free. However, you have to pay to renew your domain name for a new year as soon as you initiate the transfer. So, if your domain is to expire 2010 it will be renewed for 2011.
4. Is there anything else I need to know about switching registrars?
Yes, beware that we only support transfer for our available extensions which includes the new .co.uk . You also MUST be the owner of the Domain (Technical/Billing Contact) or have the permission to switch registrars. However, the domain name must be UNLOCKED! So, talk to your current registrar in order to have your Domain Name unlocked if you'd like to switch to Aimtech.
